We are A.P.M.A. – Accountancy Practice Mergers & Acquisitions.

Given our long-standing record of over 50 years’ direct and continuous service to the profession, you may well have received emails and letters from us from time to time. We don’t write weekly or even monthly — we know you’re busy, and so are we.

For that reason, we never market on a purely speculative basis. We only contact you when we have something worthwhile to share — a specific opportunity we believe could be of interest you.

At A.P.M.A. we work on a bespoke basis, carefully selecting the assignments we take on because we are committed to quality. We only accept instructions where both we and the client are 100% committed to achieving a successful outcome.

We never ask for any commitment or fee from you unless we are confident of success. Once instructed, we gather all the necessary information at the outset so we can do the job properly and thoroughly. Then we get to work — quietly, without fanfare or fuss.

We simply deliver to the best of our ability, and we do it with pride. We pull out all the stops and work tirelessly until we have fulfilled our commitment to your complete satisfaction. If we are not successful, you pay no fee.

Every assignment we undertake stands on its own merits. We have no need to convince, push, or persuade. We are comfortable with our approach because we only work with clients in whom we have full confidence — clients who are equally committed to working alongside us.

By the same token, we want the parties we introduce to one another to have complete confidence in each other too.

It’s really quite simple: we do good, clean business deals.

At the end, when the job is done well, we ask to be paid.

Our fee is based on a percentage of one times turnover, payable by both parties, subject to an upper cap. In return, we give our full commitment from start to finish — leaving no stone unturned, providing complete hand-holding for all parties, supplying all key paperwork and legal templates, even offering ongoing support after completion.

We believe that’s fair.

My father, Jeremy Kitchin, founded A.P.M.A. in its original form in 1973. Since then it has evolved through various iterations, including a period as Job Tel alongside the late Julian Hamilton. Jeremy was the most honourable, thorough, and fair man I have ever known. He taught me the importance of striving for excellence in everything I do.

If I were selling my own business, he is the person I would have wanted by my side — because he built trust by inspiring confidence underpinned by integrity. A true gentleman. Sadly, my father passed away at lunchtime on Christmas Day 2024, just as many families would have been sitting down to Christmas dinner. We are still reeling from the loss, but his legacy lives on in both A.P.M.A. and in me. We have always been, and remain, a true family business.

When my father started out, there were no accountancy practice brokers in the UK. His first client was Hacker Young.

All my family have played a part in building the business model we still use today — a model I believe in 100%. I grew up with it, I watched my father test and refine it with great success many hundreds of times, and I too have personally tested and proven it again and again over the past 20 years.

Ultimately, my work at A.P.M.A. is about delivering excellence through the provision of a simple service: introducing willing sellers to willing buyers (and vice versa) and guiding them through a smooth process to a mutually satisfactory outcome.

All I ask is that everyone involved acts with integrity — and they do. This allows me to focus all my attention on ensuring the journey is efficient, professional, and as stress-free as possible for our clients.
